Quality control of chassis parts
Chassis parts such as integral subframes, suspension arms, steering knuckles, swivel bearings, steering gear housings and damper brackets all bear a relevance to safety and must be 100% inspected.
The chassis is subjected to stresses that are highly dynamic and occur abruptly. This is the reason why the assemblies utilized must exhibit a high degree of long-life fatigue strength. But at the same time the demand exists for chassis parts to weigh as little as possible at minimized manufacturing costs. As a result, weight is reduced on the one hand through a modified forming or deployment of materials, yet on the other, strict and often 100% quality controls simultaneously make sure that the stringent specifications issued by automobile manufacturers are being complied with.
Independent of the manufacturing process involved, inspecting quality using X-rays is a fast and proven method to detect flaws like blowholes, porosities or deviations in form during production. Modular, modern vehicle platforms require high production volumes. Therefore, X-ray systems must therefore be able to be integrated into the production process so that they are able to inspect high volumes just as readily. YXLON offers different X-ray systems to accomplish this which are coordinated to meet the respective production requirements.
Computed tomography systems are used for the production of prototypes as well as for spot check sample inspection since inner structures can only be determined precisely using computed tomography. X-ray systems either with CT-option or with Y-HDR-Inspect are deployed in the subsequent production process.
We offer you a wide range of X-ray techniques at our application centers. We design solutions that replace X-ray films, provide radioscopy and fully automatic defect recognition in X-ray images, as well as computed tomography services for scanning inspection items ranging from micro-CT to CT using a linear accelerator.
