Rock core analysis
The incidence and distribution of different types of soils and rocks along with constituent parts such as crude oil, groundwater or natural gas can be determined using a CT system.
Extensive studies of soil and rock strata dealing with geology and soil physics take place before oilfields are developed and drilling rigs erected to tap them. The aim of these studies is to obtain information about the composition and nature of soil samples taken at different depths.
The incidence and distribution of different types of soils and rocks along with constituent parts such as crude oil, groundwater or natural gas are determined for each layer within the drilling sample. Using computed tomography, information can be gained about how crude oil spreads inside rocks and about the speed at which the crude oil can be expelled from the rock. This flow behavior can be documented over a period of weeks in real time using automatic CT scans in our computed tomography systems.
We offer you a wide range of X-ray techniques at our application centers. We design solutions that replace X-ray films, provide radioscopy and fully automatic defect recognition in X-ray images, as well as computed tomography services for scanning inspection items ranging from micro-CT to CT using a linear accelerator.
