In other words, to obtain a precise statement about the inner and
outer geometry of an object to be inspected it is necessary to make
X-rays from as many angles as possible.
In the case of CT units, the X-ray tubes, the detector and the
manipulator are therefore arranged in such a way that X-rays are
possible from all directions, 360° at best.
On the basis of the X-rays taken at various angles, a cross-sectional
image - the so-called tomogram (reconstruction) - is calculated
later on via a mathematical procedure.
