Modern systems for X-ray inspection of castings must be increasingly able to detect anomalies in a reliable manner while at the same time reducing their test cycle. YXLON has designed the Y.MU 56 X-ray inspection system especially for these demands from producers of castings.  

The Y.MU 56 is designed as an inline X-ray inspection system. The castings to be inspected are conveyed through the X-ray inspection station on pallets. Multiple casting parts can be placed on each palette.

Manipulation of the castings under X-ray inspection is especially important as travel between the inspection positions directly influences the cycle time of the X-ray inspection system. Travel is minimized by the YXLON concept of using industrial robots fdesigned for high speed and high positioning accurancy as manipulation for the castings.
The Inline X-ray inspection system Y.MU 56 is equipped with PC-based Y.PXV 5000 control software which allows an automated inspection procedure. The inspection procedure is performed under the complete control of Y.PXV 5000 to present the human inspector the best possible X-ray images of the castings.

With the X-ray inspection system Y.MU 56, a large range of casting samples can be inspected without the need for lengthy changeover times. In combination with a part identification system, random mode operation is no problem either. The normal inspection operation mode can be interrupted anytime without any problems, for the occasional inspection of e.g. individual parts under development.  

The Y.MU 56 X-ray inspection system is designed for the fast serial inspection of castings of various dimensions and weights. The parts to be inspected are fed into the X-ray shielded cabinet and picked up by one industrial robot. For the X-ray inspection, the robot manipulates the castings in the vertical oriented X-ray beam. X-ray tube and detector are built in stationary.
The YXLON standard imaging system for most casting parts is a state of the art flat panel detector. Other imaging systems like Image Intensifiers can be used depending on the application.
YXLON PC-based system control and image processing software controls the complete X-ray inspection sequence: system control, part identification, automatic defect recognition and classification, marking and sorting of the inspected parts.
This YXLON X-ray inspection solution is characterized by a small footprint and fast cycletime.
The Y.MU 56 X-ray inspection system can be integrated directly into your plant's conveyor system.
